August 2016

August was Back-to-School time, but as it turns out, not the end of summer. Spoiler alert: it wouldn't cool off in Arkansas for a LONG time. This school year marked the last First Day of School for both of these guys: Nate's last year in middle school and Ashley's last year in elementary school.

Since not much else happened in August, I will share a few "between the dots" moments. First, our latest caloric splurge: Nothing Bundt Cakes. We discovered these little gems thanks to the recommendation of my friend Phyllis. (They even have a gluten-free option.)

Nate stayed busy this summer with cross country training. He got up early 3 days a week to run at school and tried to get in a few miles on his own each week. The whole family joined him on this run...well, sort of. Ashley kept up with him while the rest of us lagged behind. As hot as it was this summer, we also got a lot of rain which is why the grass is so green at the end of August.

A few of my favorite things: If I could describe my perfect day, it would start with getting up before everyone else and enjoying some quiet time and a cup of coffee. This day I was working on planning our next vacation (another of my favorite things!)
