Fasten your seat belts and get ready for the wild ride that was October 2016! We only had one game at War Memorial again this year, and it looks like the days of watching the Hogs play in LR are numbered. We also drew the short straw and had the early game as well. I tried to make the best of it by preparing this yummy brunch.
Ashley made the cheerleading squad again in 5th Grade. Their first performance was a pep rally for Book It! Sadly, they don't give out the Pizza Hut buttons like when we were kids, but she did get a free book. :)
Speaking of pizza, Nate worked really hard bussing tables for his school fundraiser at Larry's Pizza. I was really proud of his work ethic and willingness to help out.
Ashley and I made a second trip to Verizon Arena for another gymnastics event. This time it was the Kellogg's Tour of Champions were we got to see 3 of the Final Five perform including Simone Biles' floor routine and Aly Raisman on the beam. Some of the former gymnasts signed autographs afterward, and Ash got lots of them to sign her leotard. It was really a great show!

Annual grown-ups only trip to Fayetteville
While we were in Fayetteville, mom and Missy took care of Ashley for the Favorite Holiday Night at Cotillion. Ash was St. Patrick's Day.
Nate, Luke, and Noah shadowed at Catholic High one Friday in October. 8th grade has been going so much better than the other years of middle school, but I still don't think were ready for the transition to high school! At least I'm not!
Last cross country meet of the year. They all set PRs and were really encouraging to their teammates.
After cross country, we made our way to Fayetteville. The Greesons were going to the game as well so they tailgated with us for a while.
I coaxed/forced everyone into getting dressed for family photos on Sunday morning. We all brought fall clothes and it was still very hot that day! We tried to beat the heat and even got some group shots with the Fowlkes. I don't know that we have any pictures of the eight of us that are not taken on game day!
The kids were out of school on Monday the 17th, so we made an unusual daytime trip to the fair. I forgot to mention that we had all been struggling with illness for most of September and October. Nate and I with sinus infections and Ashley also had respiratory issues plus mono! I think you can see the tiredness on both of their faces here. It was a short trip to the fair for us that day!
I also failed to mention that our almost 16-year-old air conditioning unit went out, and that it was 90+ degrees in mid October. We spent Nate's birthday in a hotel to get a break from the heat. We were trying to wait it out on the air conditioner until next year, but it stayed hot here until mid November, so we broke down and got it and the furnace replaced. Since we live in Arkansas, we got to try out the new a/c and heater in the same week!
For his birthday party, we took Nate and friends to Dave and Buster's. #birthdaytot

The Payne's invited us to join them for a day at the Pumpkin Patch. Even though the weather didn't exactly feel fall-like, we had a great day of corn mazing, picnicking, and hay riding.
Last but not least for October, we went to the Family Fest at church with Yoda and a cute gymnast.
